Water Helps Prevent Cellulite Formation
Cellulite is a term used to describe the chain of wrinkled fat cells and subcutaneous connective tissue beneath the skin and which seems to be more prevalent in women than men, predominantly accumulating in areas below the waist. It would be unfair to say this is a condition exclusive to overweight women because that couldn’t be further from the truth, women who are naturally slim can also suffer with this unsightly problem.
You see as the collection of fats push against the connective tissue, it tends to cause the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker and visually look lumpy, giving you what is referred to as cellulite. Health experts have been trying to discover the cause for some time as it is not a condition that affects every woman but they believe it does have some connection to the way the fat cells are made and possibly how toxins enter and are stored within the body.
What is certain though is that the older you become the greater the likelihood of this type of cell forming as the elastin and collagen, that help stop aging lines, becomes less effective. Whilst many would disagree, this condition is often referred to a hormone imbalance problem as men almost never have this happen to them.
The presence of cellulite is not always prominent, unless one tries to pinch the upper skin of one’s thigh, should it feel lumpy then you most certainly have it but a woman should not feel bad about having it, since most have this condition to a certain degree. Many factors can influence the buildup, ranging from the sex of the person to their age, genetic make-up, skin type and skin thickness, all have a part to play in its formation.
Despite research, science has no answers to the definitive cause which means that any manufacturer can make claims but how to rid people of the condition including creams to make it disappear. Massage has been found to help hide the indications of cellulite even though it cannot remove it, but is does reduce it’s visibility for a temporary period and is available from some beauty clinics.
Liposuction has now started to be used to try and remove the fat cells and even by injecting drugs directly into the affected sacks directly. However, these are only temporary measures so do not provide permanent relief and liposuction is really only efficient for deeper based fats and not those close to the surface as with cellulite.
A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. So far the best method is back to basics combining a healthy diet with exercise that gradually burns off the fat but not the connective tissue where it is found.
Water too is useful as it has the effect of flushing out toxins that accumulate and are thought to be partly responsible for the cellulite, in addition to this smokers are urged to quit or reduce their smoking which is an effective way for toxins to enter the body.
