Vitamin E For Anti Aging Skin Care

One of the most successful areas of health and beauty is Anti-aging skin care products. it is only natural that as people get older they want to continue looking young so will use products that help them achieve this. This is done using skin care products that encourage the growth of the protein collagen which happens to be the main source of the protein used in the connective tissue of skin, collagen is so abundant, it makes up about a quarter of the total protein content of structural protein found in skin. Collagen is related to other natural substances which help to slow down the ageing process, these are known as antioxidants which remove toxins from the body.

One of the best known anti-oxidants is vitamin C and despite continual research, no-one body involved can decide just exactly how much our body should consume on a daily basis. Unfortunately all skin care treatments that use vitamin C have the problem of atmospheric oxidization to contend with once the product is exposed to the air.

Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. These alternative products are not as effective as vitamin C but vitamin E and lipoic acid are anti-oxidants and are now being used.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant and is found in human blood, it helps build resistance against infection like cancer. On the other hand, lipoic acid or alpha-lipoic acid is necessary for energy production which keeps us alive, it is in every human cell and another function is to repair skin damage caused by the normal ageing process.

The use of plants has not been overlooked either with many types able to provide essences called phytochemicals which have proved successful in anti-aging skin care products. Another benefit, like that of alpha-lipoic acid, is their ability to reduce the prevalence of certain cancers like prostate, colon and breast cancer.

It has also been discovered that there are anti-aging benefits to vitamins B5, B6 and B12. The use of anti-aging skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age.

A great deal about the ageing process has already been learned and the products available today are already far more advanced than ten years ago but there is still a long way to go. With the research that is now taking place, many people are confident that in time, more effective, cheaper anti-aging skin care products will be discovered.

However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement, they cannot replace natural skin care remedies. Drinking plenty of water, getting a good night’s sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are an essential means of delaying the ageing process.
